frequently asked questions

What happens if my singer has to miss a lesson? Do you offer makeups?

We use Spotlight Sessions: Private Video Instruction in place of traditional makeups. Each singer receives up to 5 Spotlight Sessions during the series.

Spotlight Sessions: Private Video Instruction are short, focused, personalized video lessons your singer can submit between our in-studio lessons. I created Spotlight Sessions to address missed lessons, times when a singer needs extra support, and moments when targeted feedback is especially helpful.

Your singer records a brief video—either singing something we’ve been working on or completing a specific assignment I’ve given—and uploads it. I then send a detailed, individualized teaching video in response.

Because I can pause, review, and analyze every phrase, these sessions often go deeper than what’s possible in real time. They help singers stay on track, build confidence, and feel supported even during busy or unpredictable weeks.

I review and respond to Spotlight Sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week.

Can parents sit in or observe the first lesson?

No—lessons are a singer-only environment so the singers feel completely safe, relaxed, and free to explore their voices.

However, if your singer is nervous, they are absolutely welcome to watch and warm up with us without singing. I will never make a singer sing before they feel ready.

Does my child have to sing in the first lesson? What if they’re scared?

No one is ever required to sing in front of others before they feel comfortable.

Singers can join us for all warmups, movement activities, games, and group exercises. These build trust, connection, and confidence.

If your singer is nervous or feels afraid to sing in front of the other singers, all they need to do is let me know. There is never a wrong time to share that with me.

They will still learn so much about their voice simply by showing up and participating, even without singing a solo.

All I ask is that you just show up, and I can take it from there.

Is there a payment plan?

Yes! We’re happy to set that up. Just reach out, and our studio manager, Micka, will help you with the details.

What if we can only attend every other week?

This has happened before, and we’re happy to welcome your singer in.

When it’s not just an occasional absence but an every-other-week pattern, we simply make arrangements in-house so your singer still feels supported and included. Just reach out and let us know what schedule you’re navigating.

What are Spotlight Sessions?

Spotlight Sessions: Private Video Instruction are short, private video lessons that your singer can submit between in-person lessons. They were created to support singers during busy weeks, missed sessions, or moments when a singer would benefit from deeper, more focused guidance.

Your singer records a short video—either singing something we’re currently working on or responding to a specific assignment I’ve given—and uploads it. I then send back a personalized teaching video with detailed instruction.

Because I can pause, review, and analyze closely, these sessions provide exceptionally focused guidance. It’s the same one-on-one teaching experience—just delivered in a flexible way that keeps growth steady, especially during audition prep or when a singer wants extra support.

I review and respond to Spotlight Sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week.
